I Admit When I'm Wrong

Pros

If you can't get a job somewhere else and desperately need a paycheck, this is a decent Band-Aid.

Cons

There is not one thing...not one...that they enforce or uphold in the employee manual or standards. I uprooted my family to relocate for a company promotion and ended up in such a horrific situation it made me sick. I notified executive leadership of violations by a VP and his lying about even having a degree, while expecting me to continue his illegal actions in the department. For my trouble, I was demoted and stuck in a corner. So I left, at which point they presented me with a bill for my relocation (which was very cheap by relo standards) and then held my final paycheck. So I lawyered up, filed with the EEOC, and have a massive amount of documentation ready to go. They had several chances to make it right and instead I was told "don't take him on, he's the 'favorite' and you won't win." Last year, when I said there were opportunities for women (see review)? I was completely WRONG.

Pros

I started on at PharMerica about a year ago fresh from graduating college. My immediate supervisor is FANTASTIC to work for, she goes above and beyond to help the company, and although she has high expectations of her staff, she allows our input into what our goals should be. Overall I have a fairly flexible schedule, you can work 8-5 or 8:30-5:30 which is nice. PharMerica had a rougher history with senior management in the past, but is bringing in new senior management faces that have a better outlook for the company morale. I get along with my team members great, and everyone is willing to help out, even if it isn't directly related to their goals.

Cons

Senior Management is still 'stuck in the 80s' but the HR department seems to be working to get that fixed. Pay is okay, but worth it for the great scheduling and environment. As long as you're not directly working for Senior Mgmt it's a great job

Pros

The Louisville office was close to home. Tampa based VP allowed me to lead my team without too much interference. I worked with some of the most intelligent men and women. Luckily I work or have worked with these same individuals since we all chose to leave Pharmerica. All advancing in their careers.

Cons

VPs and some in the C level suite set a tone of cut throat management. It was common place for the CEO to walk past employees and not acknowledge their presence verbally or through eye contact. The use of the F bomb, screaming and threats during management meetings was common place. My VP provided good leadership and I learned a great deal. Unfortunately my direct manager could be a tyrant threatening my direct reports over the phone without my knowledge. It was not uncommon for vacations to be canceled days or hours before planned approved leave. This sort of behavior in a pharmacy corporation can cause mistakes that can harm or kill a pateint. Most people do not believe my stories of working here but they are all true. Many of the same leaders remain with this company.
