Fun company, but no room to grow

Pros

Fun atmosphere. Great co-workers. Entertaining products.

Cons

No internal promotions. High turn over rate. Low pay that they say is due to being a start up...when they've been around for 5+ years now. They allocate their funds entirely the wrong way. Instead of promoting within and giving raises, they push loyal employees out and overpay brand new people in hopes of them having more knowledge than the people that have helped the company grow.

Pros

The humor in the product means there's a very friendly atmosphere most of the time. The actual work was simple and only really difficult in December for holiday stuff. They throw great parties.

Cons

Mismanagement of funds made them cut hours despite the workload, badly planned warehouse move caused issues that rolled down to the bottom workers pretty solidly.

Pros

Shinesty is certainly not your typical organization, and there are pros that come along with that. This is an organization that's set out to disrupt the e-apparel industry by encouraging the world not to take itself too seriously. For them to do that, they must embrace being different in all degrees, and they absolutely live up to that. From creative brainstorms, to out-of-the-box business practices, you'll find a lot of what "traditional corporate america" does nowhere in sight. They really value people who give a s***, people who are comfortable being different in approaches and mindset, embracing your true self in the office as you are out of the office, and having a good time. You'll get a lot of opportunities to make huge impacts across not just your functional home, but across the organization. You'll really be able to walk away with a ton of experiences that you can apply almost anywhere. The organization is extremely transparent - from financials, plans vs actuals, even when making errors, this organization values being open, honest, and transparent in all degrees and from every corner. They're a hard working group, but don't let the work ethic fool you. As you would expect from this brand, their employees know how to play even harder.

Cons

Striving to be consistently different doesn't come without a price, for a lack of a better word. You may feel like you have to exhaust all of your time and sacrifice some personal time, which is true to an extent. This is a seasonal business where a lot of traffic comes in during Q4, so be prepared to put all effort in. Depending on your role, there's a pretty substantial amount of prep time to ensure Q4 can be a success that happens in Q3. It's hard work that is not for everyone, but it's important to recognize, like any start up, there's a demand for high-level execution required consistently, and that can be exhausting for some.
