Pros

There are a lot of positives working for the management team at Southern Staircase. We have a laid back work environment and we are given the ability to accomplish our stated goals without micromanagement. Job advancement is very important at Southern Staircase, I started working in inside sales 17 years ago and within 90 days I was an outside sales rep. I've worked in field ops, management and sales at Southern and would recommend Southern Staircase to anyone that I know.

Cons

It can be a very face paced work environment but if you thrive on the speed it can make it a fun place to work. During the late summer and early fall (out busy times of the year) we produce a large quantity of work and It can be stressful.

From a Long Time Employees Perspective

Pros

Southern Staircase is a great company with constant growth potential for employees who want to grow, change, and have a career in construction. Southern Staircase has a continuous improvement mentality, and has been able to effectively adjust their business plan as needed for economic, customer driven, and employee driven changes. I am a classic example of someone who started with an entry level position in manufacturing and worked my way in to management. Southern Staircase worked with me to develop my trade skill set along with my people and organization skills. There is no such thing as a perfect job, and even the job you think would be perfect probably has some negatives. For me the positives of Southern Staircase far out weigh the negatives.

Cons

Sometimes we grow faster than we can manage, but that is a side effect of our industry. Over the years I believe that we have done a better job at managing the growing pains. Currently we are struggling to find younger entry level talent that want to learn carpentry, and do hands on work. We are combating that with our in house training program, and reaching out to some of the high schools and Tech Colleges in the region who still offer carpentry classes.

Pros

Great employees to work with. Team effort on every project. Management is will to help each employee equally. As southern Staircase grows, the job opportunities and salaries grow as well.

Cons

Its construction. Like any other job. You have good days and bad days. We work year round. Summers are hot and winters are cold. We still have a job to do and customers to keep happy.
