Not the software company you're looking for

Pros

Those at the lower operational level are great people who care about the customers and each other. YM is trying to become involved in the community through outreach programs but they could use a little more support from leadership.

Cons

The pay is low compared to other software companies. If you want to work on the products in the capacity of a developer or tester you would have better luck moving to Ukraine or the Philippines as that seems to be where we place our most important positions. These are those who code the products that are being sold yet we do not have the means to invest in local talent or, at least, US-based remote talent. New sales are more important than maintaining the customer base. Do whatever it takes to get the sale and if that means custom development was promised on top of what the product road map includes then the small staff of burned out engineers will be forced to get it done at the detriment of the product. If we cannot upsell it to you then we will not update the feature.

Pros

If you are new to working or entry level you could do much worse I suppose than this place to cut your teeth.

Cons

1. Management is disorganized and reactive and does not really have any pull in any direction. This company is owned by a private equity firm and as such it's not the manager's fault that the higher ups NEVER see the value in investing back into this company. 2. Training or the lack thereof. 3. Territories are partitioned out without any process or system and no transparency is given. 4. This company is looking to be bought in the next couple of years so there is not going to be any support or resources to you as a sales rep. 5. Commissions were drastically cut recently with everyone losing an average of about 10K less than they did in previous years. Wonder where the money went? Ask the 34 Senior VPs and Directors that lead this company of 250. Yep that's right...for every 7 - 8 persons there's a SVP/Director. Great strategy!

Pros

Nice office, great employees on the lower levels. Employee happy hour nights. Some holiday fun as well. Casual dress.

Cons

No communication between upper management. No training whatsoever. Sink or swim mentality. No SOP's or guidelines really at all. They have a handbook that is more than vague and can be changed to suit the managements needs at the time. No basis on what promotions are given for. When asked to get a copy of the promotion guidelines, was again asked to wait another month (after waiting 2 months already after asking). Seniority and productivity is not even considered. Termination after asking one more time for these promotional guidelines. Departments lack of communication between themselves. Lots of blame games and restructuring to distract from lack of actual work. If you do not fall into a clique, then you cannot and will not be successful here. Lots of office politics. Really super high turn over rate (due to lack of management and training). I was there one year, and I witnessed 28 people leave. They have 100 employees, so that is roughly a 1 in 4 chance you will leave before your year is out. No HR department at all. The HR head actually submitted her resignation after less than a year. This was a HUGE red flag.
