Where military experience meets career opportunity

At Indeed, supporting former and current military service members and spouses starts at home. Our dedicated Indeed for Military team works to empower the military community with job search guidance, tools, and resources, while educating employers on how to better value, hire, and support military talent.

Indeed earned the Military Ready Badge in 2025, recognizing our commitment to recruiting, hiring, and supporting military-connected talent. We’ve embedded military-friendly language across our job postings and created pathways that recognize the skills service members develop through their military experience. Through Indeed for Military, we provide employers with tools and best practices to build veteran-inclusive hiring programs, helping bridge the gap between military service and successful civilian careers.

      Military Voices

The transition from military service to civilian work is more than a career move; it’s a new chapter. Here, Indeed employees share how the discipline, leadership, and adaptability gained through service shape the work they do today. Their stories reflect our commitment to championing military-connected talent and creating a workplace where their skills and perspectives thrive.

      Mike, Mid-Market Account Executive

From managing emergency evacuations to helping companies find the right talent, meet Mike, now a Mid-Market Account Executive at Indeed. Before joining us, his military career as a combat medic spanned training and improving NATO force operational procedures in Germany, managing a medical treatment facility in Liberia, and earning the Expert Field Medical Badge.

"Giving an IV to someone under high-pressure situations doesn't translate directly to this role," Mike says, "but getting creative to achieve the desired result does…something that was commonplace in military field environments."

Now Mike's bringing that same creativity, attention to detail, and "never quit" attitude to helping employers find the right talent solutions. The skills he developed under pressure— accountability, commitment to exceeding standards, dedication to grind through tough challenges—translate to consultative sales and hitting goals.

What stood out most to Mike during his interview process? "I felt like I could be upfront and let my talent speak for itself. Indeed cares about more than what's on a piece of paper."

Mike’s advice to all military job seekers: Don't be afraid to show who you are. Your skills, leadership, and commitment matter.

      Landrea, Administrative Assistant

"I enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 2007 through the Delayed Entry Program (DEP). Following basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, in October 2007, I began my 50+ week Radiologist Specialist Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. This training included classroom instruction and on-the-job training at Darnall Army Medical Center. After graduating from AIT, I was assigned to Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, where I worked as a Radiology Technician. I primarily worked in the Orthopedic Surgery department, providing pre-op and post-op X-rays, operating the C-Arm for live fluoroscopy during surgeries, and setting up for epidural steroid injection procedures."

"I joined Indeed in April 2022 as an Administrative Assistant, supporting four Vice Presidents in Marketing. Having worked in an administrative role for over 20 years, this was my first time in the HR tech space. There were so many new skill sets that I was able to add to my wheelhouse as a result of working in this capacity. In May 2024, I transitioned to supporting Strategy and Corporate Development. I am also a proud member of multiple Inclusion Business Resource Groups (IBRGs), including BIG, iPride, and Veterans and Allies."

"My advice for any employer considering hiring a veteran is to understand that each veteran’s experience is unique. Military service instills a sense of adaptability and resilience. Veterans bring a calm, focused approach to challenging situations, with discipline, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. We are used to following procedures and completing tasks with precision and dedication."

"Veterans also bring a diverse range of skills and experiences, often having received training in technical areas, leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork under high-pressure conditions. Many veterans pursue further education and training after service to enhance their skill sets."

"One of the most prevalent challenges for prior service members is transitioning from military to civilian life. Employers should offer support through mentorship programs, transition assistance, and clear career pathways to help veterans integrate successfully into the organization."

      Kenny, Business Strategy Senior Manager

Meet Kenny, a Business Strategy Senior Manager, on Indeed’s Product Excellence team who served thirteen years as an Air Defense Artillery Officer in the United States Army. During his military career, he held several roles, including Company Commander in South Korea, where he led the training, development, and readiness of 115 soldiers.

“More than anything else, my military service taught me the importance of teamwork, resilience, and integrity,” Kenny shares. “In the military, we are often challenged to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty. You quickly realize you are a part of something much bigger than yourself and that any enduring success is dependent upon empowering your teammates, finding the resilience to overcome adversity, and demonstrating the character and integrity that builds deep trust.”

Now, as a member of Indeed’s Product Excellence team, Kenny focuses on evolving Product Development practices and our Product Operating Model. In his role, he strives to empower Product teams to build products and experiences that meet customer needs while aligning with business goals.

The leadership lessons Kenny gained in the Army have been instrumental to his success at Indeed. “The military taught me that the only way to achieve success at scale is by defining a clear vision, empowering teams to do their best work, and having the humility to implement feedback along the way. Those are all skills I strive to reflect in my work each day.”

Showing up for those who served

Our employees aren’t just passionate about supporting military talent; many are happy to volunteer their time to make it happen. At hiring events designed to help service members translate their skills and navigate the transition to civilian careers, they’ve seen firsthand what’s possible when the right people are connected to the right opportunities. Here’s what some of our volunteers had to say about their experience.

      Danielle, Program Manager
"What makes this work especially meaningful to me is that it’s deeply personal. My brother serves in the Army, and through him, especially with his network from West Point, I’ve seen firsthand what it looks like when service members begin thinking about transitioning out of the military. So when I’m engaging in these protected veteran hiring events, it doesn’t feel transactional. It feels like I’m talking to my brother, or to someone he’s served alongside.

That perspective grounds how I show up. I’m not just coordinating events, I’m creating a space where candidates feel supported, understood, and confident navigating what can be a really uncertain transition. I take pride in being someone they can talk to openly, ask questions, and walk away feeling like, “I can do this.” Sometimes that’s through practical guidance, sometimes it’s just reassurance, but both matter.

Overall, this work is more than just a program to me. It’s something I care deeply about, both personally and professionally, and it’s what makes me feel empowered in the work I do."

      David, Principal Recruiter

"Volunteering at the military job fair was an excellent opportunity to learn about our veterans and their spouses as they work to find their next opportunity.

I loved having the chance to share my knowledge of the current job market, along with tips and strategies that might help these deserving men and women apply their skills in the private sector.

It's extremely rewarding to point someone in the right direction or share a particular tactic that might make the difference in a hiring scenario."

      Samuel, Senior Project Manager

"My primary motivation for volunteering at the virtual career fairs was the chance to offer direct, personalized assistance to job seekers navigating a challenging market. This was especially meaningful to me because, with some of my own family serving in the military, I understand the unique challenges veterans and military spouses face as they transition into civilian roles. The part of the experience that consistently stood out was witnessing the job seekers' determination and resourcefulness as they transitioned to the civilian workforce."
