It’s not every day we get to be there when our customers find out they are officially grandparents. So when that special moment happens, we can’t help but join in the celebrations. Katherine C., one of our customer service representatives, who was on the call with our customers, Dwight and Karen, shared: “They were given the news that their grandson had been born while we were on the phone! It was really great, and it was such a happy moment to share with them!” Recognizing an opportunity to go above and beyond for these two, Katherine partnered with our ACE (Associate & Customer Expert) team to send them an adorable stuffed animal blanket. Included was the message: Dear Dwight and Karen, I am so excited for your whole family to hear that your grandson arrived. It was special for me to get to be on the phone while you got the amazing news. I wish you all nothing but happiness and love! Please gift this to your grandson and let his mother know that she is so strong. All the best, Katherine #lifeat1800contacts #customerwows #1800contacts

Congrats to Emily H., our People Experience Intern, for winning this month’s We Live for the Impossible ACCLAIM! We receive hundreds of incredible nominations each month, which speaks to how tremendous Emily and our other winners are. Check out a short excerpt from her nomination: “Emily came to the People Department a handful of months ago as an intern and has continually killed it. I can shoot her a message, and she not only responds super quick, but she does exactly what she says she will.” We also want to shout-out Jaxon K., Customer Service Representative (We Make Her Day), Megan Y., Office Assistant (We Champion You), and Sam D., Graphic Designer (We Win as a Team) for winning an ACCLAIM! We are so grateful to have people like Emily, Jaxon, Megan, and Sam as part of our team. Their willingness to go above and beyond for their peers and customers is truly commendable. #lifeat1800contacts #acclaimwinners #1800contacts #recognition #ourassociatesrock
Our virtual milestone celebrations look a little different these days. But with so many smiling faces, you can tell we still have a great time gathering together. Many of these individuals recently celebrated 10, 15, even 20 years with 1-800 Contacts. We had a wonderful time reminiscing, swapping favorite stories, and celebrating with one another. Here’s to another great year of achievements, connections, and memories. #lifeat1800contacts #recognition
We love learning about the simple yet heartwarming acts of kindness happening all around us. Last month, our Draper reception discovered a fun surprise in the mail. Brandee M., one of our receptionists, shared: “This little card was too cute not to capture! We had sent an associate a prepaid label to mail something back to us, as they ended up not needing the item. She sent it back with this very sweet, handwritten (and hand-drawn) card. Included were little notes covered with positive messages that just made our day!” What’s something that happened to you recently that made your day or week? #lifeat1800contacts #itsthelittlethings #ourassociatesrock
Our associates continue to come into work each day and deliver amazing results. More than that, they bring an incredible energy with them that’s infectious in the best way possible. Our teams care about the work they do, the customers they serve, and just as importantly, one another. To encourage and strengthen our culture at Contacts, we are constantly seeking out ways to not only empower our people, but also celebrate their achievements. Earlier this month, our DC leadership team implemented a new quarterly recognition program, Seemore’s Superstars. (Not familiar with Seemore? Drive by our corporate office in Draper, UT and you’ll see our friendly eye guy on the building.) During a combined virtual town hall, our first round of superstars were announced. We want to give a shout-out to Angela, Lexus, Nadia, Mike, Dayne, and Bri. Our CEO also attended, and had the opportunity to congratulate these six on their hard work and contributions. (They also each received a gift card . . . the icing on the cake.) We are so grateful to have associates like these as part of our 1-800 family.
“At 1-800 Contacts, we strive is to promote health and wellness in all aspects of one’s life by creating awareness, providing tools and resources, and enabling behavior change. We believe it is important to focus on our associates’ overall well-being, and do so by providing opportunities for them to challenge themselves in each of the following wellness dimensions: purpose, growth, connection, physical, and environmental.” Misty Paxton, Director of People Experience #lifeat1800contacts #wellness
When you invest in your people and empower them to be successful in their roles, incredible things start to happen. Our associates have been sending handwritten notes to our customers for over two decades, but we never get tired of hearing the impact they have on our customers. Lyndi, one of our Customer Department associates, was recently spotted on Good News Network for an impactful interaction she had with a customer. Sarah Child, Business Partner at 1-800 Contacts, shared the following after learning about this encounter: “I love the company I work for. Not because I'm passionate about contact lenses but because I work with amazing and caring people like Lyndi. I could fill an entire book with examples just like this from my 9-year career here.” We were thrilled to see Lyndi’s efforts highlighted on GNN. If you get a moment, we invite you to check out the article. #lifeat1800contacts #1800contacts #goodnewsnetwork
We’re grateful for a lot of things, among them the ingenuity and determination of our associates. Despite COVID-19, we continue to innovate as a company and provide opportunities to foster that creativity. Earlier this month, we held another Live for the Impossible event – think IT hackathon that’s open to all of our associates. Even a pandemic and working remotely can’t slow down or stop our teams. Amy Larson, CTO at 1-800 Contacts, shared the following with our associates: “Thanks to everyone who participated in the LFTI earlier this month. We had 60+ participants who worked on 20+ projects, ranging from quick reorder app clips, to automation of common SysOps tasks, to the ingestion of web events into our customer data platform for personalization. There were so many great projects centered around innovation and the constant pursuit of a better way – this was by far our most impressive LFTI event." #lifeat1800contacts #innovation #livefortheimpossible #technology
Earlier this month, 1-800 Contacts had the opportunity to participate in the Utah Pride Road Rally. The event was a huge success, and we are proud to have been a sponsor and supporter of our LGBTQ+ community. We had associates drive in the rally, families in the roadside viewing areas, and volunteers from across the company. Our associates also rallied around our custom Pride t-shirts to help raise more than $1,200 dollars. Those dollars will be split equally between the Charlotte and Utah Pride organizations.
