A big part of who we are at 1-800 Contacts is connecting with our communities and finding ways to give back. Earlier this month, our North Carolina associates participated in a school supplies packing party, and last week, our Utah associates joined in! Together, we assembled over 600 school kits, which contained scissors, notebooks, crayons, folders, and more. Several of our associates even made monetary donations, helping us raise additional funds that will go toward purchasing more school and food items for kids in need. Earlier this week, our North Carolina team partnered with Classroom Central, a nonprofit that helps students in the Charlotte area, to host a Back-to-school service project. This packing party will provide school, wellness, and dental supplies, snacks, and other needed items to kids in need. 💛 Together, our associates assembled nearly 350 kits. We are grateful for opportunities to give back and serve within our own communities. At 1-800, our associates are eager to give back to the community and help wherever there's a need. During the summertime, with schools out and families on vacation, the American Red Cross typically sees a decline in donors, often leading to a seasonal blood shortage. To help ease the burden in the community, we sponsored an American Red Cross blood drive at our Draper campus to help increase the available blood supply to help those who need it most. Recently, we had the opportunity to donate to Utah Refugee Connection, a nonprofit committed to helping local refugees develop self-sufficient and fulfilling lives. This amazing organization has helped thousands of individuals through their volunteer, donation, and educational programs. We were honored to play even a small part in the important work they’re doing in our community, and are grateful to Jeff Roberts, FP&A Manager at 1-800 Contacts, and his wife, Kaylynn, for providing us the opportunity to give back. Kaylynn shared: “I wanted to thank 1-800 for their generous donation to my service project for nursing school for the Utah Refugee Connection. We had a goal to make 10 cleaning kits to donate, and we far surpassed that goal by being able to make 30 – with additional supplies to donate as well. I appreciated your willingness to support me in this project and was blown away by the amount of supplies that were donated. The Utah Refugee Connection was so thankful for the donation and said it couldn't have come at a better time as they’d just run out of kits. Thanks again!”
Last month, we gathered at our Draper campus to recognize our associates who celebrated their 5-, 10-, 15-, and 20-year anniversaries in 2021. We had an absolute blast and would say it was well worth the wait to congratulate these individuals in person on their achievement. Our honorees also received a surprise package in the mail last year to commemorate their years at 1-800 Contacts. We are grateful for each of these amazing associates and all they have done for our customers, their fellow associates, and the business over the years.
