Update on the construction underway at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix. Construction of the 16-story tower started in 2015 with the relocation of BUMCP’s Emergency Department, which opened in June 2017, followed by an observation unit that was completed in December 2017. The tower will be fully operational in November, featuring: • 256 beds • 4 operating rooms (opening May) • An ICU occupying floors 4-7 • Administrative offices • A conference center • Space for future inpatient growth, progressive care, med/surg units. • A new support services building located across the street The next phase is the demolition of BUMCP’s West Tower, which will become the site of the hospital’s new main lobby entrance scheduled for completion in 2020.
