On March 1st, our Tech Talent Acquisition team participated in a career focused roundtable session hosted by LNESC (LULAC National Educational Service Centers, Inc.). This virtual event was a part of LNESC’s Caminos to College and Careers - Educational and Leadership Workshop Series aimed to help high school and college students identify their career interests and explore career options in different fields like business, technology, engineering, law, education, and more. Through a small group discussion via virtual roundtable, Mave Fleming, our Director of Tech Talent Acquisition at Macy’s, Inc., shared information about his personal and professional experiences in his career journey. He also hosted a virtual breakout room, in which he directly engaged with participants and answered their questions about business careers.

Recently, students and faculty from Clark Atlanta University visited our Macy’s Herald Square flagship for an intensive development workshop hosted by executives and colleagues. The workshop was part of a $100k grant from Macy’s Future of Style Fund, helping to accelerate diverse representation and a talent pipeline of future leaders. Clark Atlanta University’s Art and Fashion Department will use this critical funding to provide deserving students with scholarships, produce the department’s annual Fashion Week event and purchase new technology equipment. #MissionEveryOne

Last year, Macy’s teamed up with The Kasper Group to launch the Divine Nine Sorority Collection to honor historically Black-founded Sororities. Identified by Macy’s buyer and Divine Nine Sorority member, WyQuasia King, the vision was to help members find styles in their signature colors to wear at various Sorority functions and events all year long. To celebrate the collection, Macy's donated $1 million to various education and research foundations of “The Divine Nine” Sororities, including those of Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta and Sigma Gamma Rho. #MissionEveryOne

Macy’s, Inc. is proud to sponsor MIT MBAn capstone project for the 2nd time in 2023 given the great success from 2022. Iris Yang Singhania, Yixin Cai, and Kayley McCranie from Enterprise Data Analytics and Talent Acquisition presented a capstone project pitch on campus at MIT on January 20th, among with 35+ other companies across multiple industries such as Retail, Finance, Insurance, Consulting, Automotive, Communications, etc. The Macy’s team presented this project pitch to 70+ students in the MBAn class of 2023 and talked with them in small groups during the networking session afterward. Students expressed strong interest in Macy's and the project - “Estimating Future Value of Prospective Customers”.
In partnership with Women In Technology (WIT), our MTech colleagues hosted the inaugural WIT Campus Job Shadow Program onsite at the Johns Creek campus on January 4th and 5th. The WIT Campus Job Shadow Program was created to provide opportunities for college women to gain exposure and access to STEAM careers. During this two-day event, students were immersed in a variety of educational sessions led by MTech colleagues – including an MTech functional showcase, Women of MTech panel discussion, Data Center tour, Enterprise and Digital Dashboard overview, Checkout Modernization demonstration, Coding presentation, career discussions, Information Security overview and internship & early career program presentation and panel.
Our Chairman and CEO, Jeff Gennette shared his personal story of being an out gay man in business with The Wall Street Journal and Suzanne Kapner. He shares that showing up authentically helps him lead with purpose, foster diversity and inclusion and avoid groupthink at Macy’s, Inc. We’re proud to share his story and encourage our colleagues – current and future – to bring their amazing selves to work every single day.
For 20 years, Macy's has partnered with Make-A-Wish America to help give hope to children with critical illnesses. Throughout our partnership, our colleagues, customers and communities have helped us grant nearly 17,000 wishes and donate over $144 million. Last month, we celebrated our partnership with our annual Santa letter writing campaign, raising $2 million for the organization. Thank you to the Make-A-Wish America organization for being tremendous partners and for creating life-changing wishes over the years.
