The RISE team had a great time at the BISNOW Jacksonville State of the Market. Informative speakers, including our own Senior Vice President, Matt Marshall, provided great insights while the team also got to meet with industry colleagues to share more about how RISE lives out our mission: to improve lives and impact people positively – one person at a time.
The 2023 Jacksonville State of the Market, hosted and organized by Bisnow, is convening a panel of experts on Wednesday, Mar 15 to explore trends, opportunities, and the industry outlook for multifamily in 2023. Matt Marshall, RISE’s Senior Vice President of Development, joins a group of prestigious speakers to share his own expertise on this market.
Sara Farrell, RISE Estimator, shares her journey for Women In Construction Week: “I graduated from the University of North Florida with a bachelor’s degree in English, my focus was creative writing. I taught 6th grade language arts for a year and half after graduation before realizing, very quickly, I was not passionate enough to justify the salary. We (my husband and I) wanted to start a family and it made sense for me to change career paths and search for a better long term career path that could support our family as it grew. While in college, I worked as a warehouse manager for a plumbing company. I loved breaking the gender boundaries and started looking for a career path in a man-dominated field. “Finding a career in construction was truly a God thing. Did you know that the construction field has one of the LOWEST gender pay gaps at of all career fields? The average gender gap is 82.1% but the construction field is 93.4%. We are truly a vital part of closing this gender pay gap. “So, ladies, be proud, be strong, and NEVER do it how a man does it - do it better.”
