Did you know that food waste can be recycled into heat, power and fertilizer? In Orlando, Republic collects source-separated food waste from theme parks, hotels, restaurants, and supermarkets. This food waste is then processed through an anaerobic digestion system operated by Harvest Power. This advanced system is capable of generating seven megawatts of heat and power, as well as 5,000 metric tons of granular fertilizer each year. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vITX9
Tampa Driver Takes Heroic Action Driver Jesus Corrales came to the aid Monday of Jennifer, one of his customers, while on his collection route in Tampa, Florida. Jesus heard a cry for help and saw a woman whose vehicle had been caught by rising flood water. Without hesitation, Jesus went to her rescue. He helped Jennifer Wade through the rising water, pulling her to safety just before her vehicle was fully submerged. Jesus drove Jennifer to her mother’s home, and then simply returned to his route. Jesus’ character and heroism is truly special. We are very proud!

As the operator of the 8th largest vocational fleet in the country, we have a number of initiatives to reduce overall fuel usage, including our continued commitment to operating CNG powered trucks. Together, these initiatives will help us reach our goal of reducing fleet greenhouse gas emissions by 3 percent
