Our drivers often represent an extra set of eyes and ears in the communities we serve. Rick, a driver in Lynnwood, WA noticed a small child running down the street after his collection truck. One of his customers did not realize that her son, who loves collection day, had discovered how to open the front door. Rick quickly stopped his truck, picked up the child and returned him safely to his home. Once reunited with a grateful mom, Rick took a few minutes from his route to let the boy climb into the cab and play around. We are thrilled to have another young fan and we are, proud of our driver.
A plastic bottle can take up to 700 years to fully decompose in a landfill. Make recycling a part of your #4thofJuly tradition.
Did you know that Republic operates a fleet of more than 2,200 CNG powered vehicles nationwide? Our CNG fleet helps to save roughly 18 million gallons of diesel fuel annually, and represents a key initiative in reaching our goal of reducing fleet greenhouse gas emissions by three percent by 2018.
Each morning, our drivers start their day with a safety briefing. Republic Services’ drivers begin their employment with week-long equipment training that is focused on skill set verification at one of 22 driver training safety centers nationwide. This initial training is followed by weeks of in-cab instruction and evaluation. Throughout their tenure, Republic Services’ drivers participate in Focus 6®, a monthly supervisor-led training protocol focused on eliminating the six types of industry-specific accidents that occur most frequently. #SummerSafety #Community #MyBlueTruck
