Sharing what matters most to our team members, brings a smile to our faces. Sr. Community Manager, Kim K., used her Purpose Time to donate to a local blood drive in her area. “This year, I chose to be a part of a local blood drive. Blood donations are much needed and coveted around the holidays, especially since the pandemic. I have type O blood which is universal to anyone receiving it and is the only blood a newborn baby can accept. And I would do anything to help a baby in crisis. That alone is why I started giving blood about 7 years ago and now donate as much as I can. Bloodsource says any one donation can help three in need, and our blood replenishes so quickly, why not help someone in need. So far I have helped over 63 people including newborn babies and will continue this as long as I can. Thank you Sequoia for allowing me the opportunity to give back to something greater than what we do on a daily basis.”

This past weekend, we were a proud sponsor for the Hot Pink Fun Run hosted by the Placer Breast Cancer Foundation. Through our sponsorship, we were able to help raise funds to fight breast cancer and promote education and outreach throughout Placer and Sacramento County. From start to finish, our team had a blast running, walking, and passing out Sequoia swag to all of the participants. #ElevateTheEveryday

Today marks the end of the first week of #HispanicHeritageMonth, which runs through October 15. In honor of this, we’d like to highlight a special story of two team members, David and Josue, who work at Center Pointe Apartment Homes in Beaverton, OR. Josue was in need of extended time off to support his wife in Mexico while she obtains her green card, which will allow their children to reunite with their mother. His Community Manager, David, who migrated to the United States himself as a child, of course didn’t have any hesitation in approving his extended time off, and also became a point of contact for Josue’s children while he was out of the country. When David ran this by Sequoia’s leadership team, he received nothing but support. During Josue’s absence, the whole Center Pointe team has stepped up to cover his responsibilities to ensure that the community is running smoothly and their residents are taken care of. All of us here at Sequoia are inspired by this story which exemplifies one of our core values of putting people and their families first.
Recently, our Senior Marketing Manager, Tony Wilson, spent some time in the great outdoors, using his personal Purpose Days to volunteer for his son's Boy Scout troop in Camp Lassen National Park. Hear from Tony as he shares his experiences as a camp leader and how his Purpose Days to volunteer led to a rewarding camping trip. “I feel extremely lucky that Sequoia gave me this opportunity to help enrich these kids’ lives at Camp Lassen. Giving back to our communities is a core belief that I share with Sequoia, so being able to use my personal Purpose Days to achieve this was special and it created immense value to me.” #ElevateTheEveryday
