The Spirit Charitable Foundation is thrilled to support Atlanta's Shepherd Center! They're pros at treating spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, and other neurological conditions. As part of our Children and Families pillar, we’ll Spiritize an important rite of passage for the adolescent program – graduation! We’ll also help fund Shepherd’s No Obstacles program which facilitates the back-to-school transition. This innovative program lessens anxiety for teachers, classmates and Shepherd graduates by providing in-school awareness and sensitivity training for school staff and students, as well as instruction in medical issues that may arise during the school day. As a special treat, Spirit Team Members had the pleasure of meeting Devin Bateman who graduated from the Shepherd inpatient program in July 2022 and resumed his studies at Washington and Lee. He’s returned this summer to continue his rehabilitation in Shepherd Center’s SCI Day Program. Devin believes staying positive has contributed to his improvement, but on those off days, he relies on others for support. “Knowing people are rooting for me really helps keep my spirits up,” he says. “It’s a rough process for everyone, but if you see others working hard and improving, it gives you a good outlook. Shepherd Center is a community where people really care about each other, and you see you are not alone here.” #SpiritGivesBack

The Spirit Charitable Foundation is proud to continue our commitment to giving back to the community and investing in the environment. Our Spirit Family teamed up with GreenUp Orlando and dug in (literally!) to restore the tree canopy at Greenwood Cemetery. 🌳 The cemetery was first established in 1880, and its tree canopy has since been destroyed by previous storms over the years. Our Team Members were able to plant 20 trees to return the cemetery grounds to its former beauty.

Few things are more powerful than a woman carving out her own path and creating a way forward for others. Betsy Roque Perez is one such woman. In the male-dominated engineering field, she worked hard to become a Spirit Fleet Engineer. She credits Spirit's culture of inclusion for contributing to her success. "Being a woman in engineering at Spirit has not been a setback; it's been celebrated. We are paving the way for the next generation of girls to be able to do what they love." #INWED2023
We’re soaring with #Pride all month long! 🌈✈️ Our LGBTQIA+ Resource Group and Team Members gathered at the Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride Parade & Street Festival for a celebration of inclusion, love, freedom, and creativity. Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom! It is the anniversary of June 19th, 1865, the day the final enslaved African Americans learned they were free — 2 years after the Civil War ended. Hear from our Team Members why Juneteenth is so important to us. ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
