“I joined Thomson Reuters just over five years ago, having practiced as a lawyer in Australia for many years beforehand. I am the Co-Chair the Women at Thomson Reuters business resource group for our Asia, Europe, and Middle East (AEM) regions, and a Wellbeing Ambassador. I first joined the Women at Thomson Reuters business resource group because I feel a deep sense of responsibility to use my position and privilege to advocate for women who might not have the same opportunity. I'm one small part of a huge collective of Thomson Reuters women and allies from across all aspects of our business and the globe. Together, we are empowered to use our combined influence to support, mentor and sponsor others and contribute to positive change both inside Thomson Reuters and in the industries where we serve." Meet Tyrilly, Head of Commercial and In-house, Practical Law Australia
“I have been working at Thomson Reuters for close to two years. I'm an Architect for the Enterprise Data Lake in Data and Analytics. My favorite part of working in Data & Analytics is the amazing women on the leadership team – they inspire me every day. There is so much to learn from each of them, and I love how they connect with every team member and help them to prioritize career growth and development for their individual careers. Being a member of the Women at Thomson Reuters business resource group is about being part of a community where you can find inspiration from one another. Everyone has their strengths, and it's a space where you can learn and grow personally and professionally. I strongly believe in creating spaces where we can all come together and uplift one other.” Meet Rittika, Lead Software Engineer, Data Lake

Throwback to our global Lunar New Year celebrations that took place across the globe last month. To celebrate the Year of the Rabbit/Cat, teammates from the United States to Singapore enjoyed a variety of in-person and virtual events to share fun and heartwarming traditions of the Lunar New Year. Also, on February 16, 2023, teammates across Thomson Reuters joined the virtual celebration of the Lunar New Year hosted by the Asian Affinity Network.
Throughout February, we celebrated Black History Month in the U.S. and Canada. At Thomson Reuters, this year’s theme was Black Resilience. We hosted various virtual and in-person sessions for teammates to celebrate and learn more about the history, achievements, and contributions of Black people in the U.S. and Canada. Check out this recap for a few highlights from the month. We are committed to being an inclusive employer that is focused on uplifting the achievements, perspectives, and voices within the Black community throughout the entire year.
“The pandemic created distance from my loved ones who live in the United States. It had been three years since I had seen my sister, and I had never met her twins, my niece and nephew, because they were born in December 2020. Thomson Reuters Work from Anywhere policy allowed me to work remotely outside of India for four weeks. In December of 2022, I traveled from India to the United States and experienced my first snowfall and first-time tobogganing in Columbus, Indiana. Our Work from Anywhere program enabled me to re-bond with my family while I was still working. It was great visiting and spending time with my nephews and niece for the first time. I am so grateful to be part of this organization which prioritizes work-life balance.” Nikhila, Talent Acquisition Analyst, Hyderabad
"Diversity, at large, is a critical issue to me. I believe mentoring or sponsoring diverse individuals is even more critical. Regarding Black talent, in particular, it is important for Black employees and potential candidates to see someone who looks like them in a leadership role." We had the privilege of speaking with Jimma Elliott-Stevens, Global Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel of the TR Enterprise Center. In our conversation, Jimma shares a unique perspective on using Black History Month to inform and educate; she also explains how the Black Employee Network is helping foster a more diverse and inclusive workplace at Thomson Reuters both regionally and globally.
On Monday, our Black Employee Network hosted a terrific talk with Adrian Miller titled "Does Soul Food Need a Warning Label?" and it was truly enlightening. Adrian Miller is a food writer, attorney, and certified barbecue judge. Our Head of Future of Work, Chris Louie, had the privilege of interviewing Adrian and described it as "a walk through the history of soul food in America, mapped against the Black experience in this country—the accomplishments, challenges, and continual resilience." Adrian took us on a deep dive into the origins of soul food, tracing it from West Africa to the American west, and shared what people of West African heritage ate before European contact and during different time periods throughout African American history. He also identified current and future trends in soul food. We're grateful for the opportunity to have learned so much from Adrian Miller and look forward to sharing more about Black History Month events.
