I like that their are different options but the plan comparisons they provide are so confusing to a new employee. You should at least cover the employee completely with the cheapest plan without paycheck deductions (Amazon doesn't).

I am only covering myself, so I don't depend on the Spouse/Family benefits. I've heard they are expensive. Individual plans are fair.

High co pay and deductible, not competitive with other large tech corporations. Always behaves in the same way as a retailer working with floor staff.

Many options for each individual. Insurance for eye care is excellent!

Several options ranging from the low monthly premium, but a high $1500 deductible (including your prescriptions) HSA plan to a more traditional PPO with a $300 annual deductible (but you pay nearly four times more a month in premiums). Vision care is VSP which really limits who is "in-network." Go out of network and only get $50 reimbursed for exam. Annual lens allotment is puny compared to other employer plans. Dental is pretty much the same as everywhere else--Delta Dental. Generally, expect to pay 10% out of pocket on the HSA (after $1500 deductible which Amazon contributes $500). On the PPO, you'll pay the 10% as well after $300 (no Amazon contribution), but your prescriptions are on a more traditional co-pay scale. If you have prescriptions of any significant cost, you'll probably get killed on the HSA.

They recently changed health insurance companies claiming that "It's exactly the same coverage, nothing is going to change", but some things did change and not for the better. When that happened we actually had to start paying more. But it is still decent insurance.

It's an amazing health care plan. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital, and my entire out of pocket was only 10% of the bill.
