The bonus does not depend on an employee's productivity, achievements, etc., but depends on his/her eligibility to leave the company. Once you show them an offer, you are able to get an immediate five-digits "retain bonus", some stocks or options.
Even if you worked hard and your manager supports your claims on getting a bonus, a top management may waive giving it saying "the revenue goals were not achieved, sorry, see you next time". Next time means next year... unless you get an offer from another company.
