You can't retire early (earlier than 55 years old) and earn your pension even if you have had the required years of service (15 years).

The fact that it is offered on top of the 401k match is great. Although tech & investment banking companies offer incredibly competitive salaries and benefits, the work/life balance is arguably much better at XOM.
