The company offers fair performance bonuses. This has been declining over the years due to company performance, and I have found that based on individual managers and their style, even the "bell curve" doesn't always apply. :-(

Even though there is a 'plan' that employees follow to be based on their 'performance' in reality the actual 'amount' employee recieves is completely based on a decided before hand "Numbers game" that is purely based on 1. location of employee (RTP vs PA vs UK), 2. sex/ethnicity & 3. "Favoritism" with Therapeutics area/Management groups.

It's always good to have extra money at bonus time, but the performance rating system is TERRIBLE and is at the whim of higher ups who if they don't care for you personally or have favorites, they will screw you over at bonus time. Doesn't matter how well you perform or work late nights, you can reap the benefit if you are a favorite or get screwed over. Basically, don't do as I did once and count on an average rating and decent bonus to pay for my kids' school only to be shocked by a poor rating and get practically nothing for bonus. Not to mention, the rating is on your record for 3 years and affects all future hiring and firing decisions.
