This is hit or miss, depending on the management they have in place. Some provide great mentorship and guidance, others literally just show up to tell middle management what to do while they hide in their offices M-F, 9-5 and then do happy hour with the other upper managers in the hotel bar

Don't know manager has not gone over any options. Most departments put you done if you say you want to move out of front desk. If you have career goals they want to put you done and tell you the benifits of the job you are already doing any why you should stay in that department.
