Not bad to have nearly 3 weeks of sick time and extended illness time in the first year of employment. The patients that you will care for are extremely ill in most circumstances, and you will occasionally carry home a bug or two.

Typical hospital policy of sick days...after so many (6-7) unscheduled sick days, you get written up.

Sick days are built into the paid time off days. But extended illness days are for illnesses that last more than 3 days so pto is not wasted. Good idea in my opinion.

Limited number of PTO and forced to take them on holidays, leaves very little room for a vacation and sick days in a year

A new employee accrues 3.75 hours of PTO time a pay period and you cant use it until you use at least 2 full vacation days.
