Offering sick days is a great benefit. But if employees use their sick days it will count as an occurance against them. An employee can only have so many occurances before they lose their job. The only way using sick time does not count against an employee and their record is it is approved at least 1 month out, no many people are able to predict when they will be sick.

you can take them...everyone is allotted 5 sick per year and they dont roll over.

The sick day policy for our location is good in that vacation and sick days are treated the same. The bad side of that is if you use up your vacation and sick days before the end of the year and need to take time off, you need to try and work an appointment after hours.
