Any thoughts on WPP?
I work at a really difficult agency where it’s hard to get anything made that’s not a digital banner. Earlier this year I managed, by some literal miracle, to make something I was really proud of. It’s pretty much the best thing I have ever been a part of. It did well on the local awards circuit and we submitted to Cannes and I just saw that we didn’t even shortlist... I feel like a failure and a huge, talentless loser. This felt like my only shot and I blew it. How do you get over this feeling?
Why is it that so many us of hate our jobs in this industry? On paper, it pays pretty well, you get to make stuff and go on shoots etc. It’s not physically gruelling work and it’s not as dull as most office jobs. So what is it that makes us hate it so much? The hours? The creative frustration? The clients?
Thoughts on being asked to work on a holiday? How do you say no?
BBDO NY: Let’s do big things Also BBDO NY: Let’s copy what Taco Bell did when they used real people named Ronald McDonald to promote their breakfast and get real people named Reece to promote our snickers chocolate peanut butter 🙄🙄🙄
Shit. Literally the entire job market in advertising is all in NYC again. Looks like I shouldn't have moved away when I did. The bets were placed on black in the COVID gamble, and its red for us big city refugees I guess... (I'm stuck now, I can never move back with my young fam). All jokes aside, doesn't it feel like the rest of the country just vanished for Ad jobs? Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, Miami, LA even (more than the rest sure). Boston is literally completely dead. WTF happened?
It’s Cannes holding company of the year so must be the best
What part?
