What is your most unpopular salary opinion? Mine is it's okay to not job hop every 2-3 years if you are still growing your skills even if your salary isn't.
My new hire is making $30/hour more than me for the exact same Field Tech role. I’ve been here since 2022, but his starting pay is higher than my current ceiling. When I asked for a match, HR told me to focus on my own career path instead of worrying about others. Should I just quit and re-apply for my own job at the new rate, or is that a bridge-burning move?
Got an offer letter from Walmart Inc., at Bentonville. The job description said the range is $70K - $130K. And they offered me $90K saying this is even higher and wouldn’t get approved. Apparently it did. I got very similar strong experience for the role. I was expecting well around $100K, should I negotiate on this? How would you handle it? I acknowledge the job market is bad, and Arkansas is comparatively cheap. Seeking advice.
I hit my FIRE number at 31, but I’m too scared to quit because I don't know what to do. I’ve spent ten years obsessing over vesting schedules and promotion cycles. I see my non-tech friends struggling to pay rent and I feel a weird survivor's guilt. How do you walk away from a $25k monthly direct deposit when you’ve made it your entire identity?
I had a moment today where I realized life has gotten expensive and I need to make more. What was your trigger point when you realized your salary wasn't enough for your lifestyle? Did you advocate for more money or look for a new job?
It is how they break down their pay and jobs. I do not remember what the pay is per band. It is similar to the US Government but more restrictive on if you can move to the different bands in your job.
Pay and Job ranges essentially.
