With all the layoffs and general anxiety about what's next, I’m seriously overworking myself. I’m scared that if I don’t, I’ll get let go and never find anything else in this field. If you recently went through a job search, how long did it actually take?
I am going into a second round interview for PNC Bank as Software Engineer (Java) role. I'm feeling nervous but good nonetheless. Are there any tips or anything you would be willing to share with me?
I'm job searching again due to being laid off after a long tenure. I have 8 YOE and a modern stack, but I never finished my degree. Recruiters are reaching out, but my cold applications get zero traction. I'm seeing that CS degrees are required everywhere now. Is finishing my degree a smart move to help me get past these automated filters, or is it a waste of time at my level?
Is anyone noticing more bugs across the web and in software in general? Our team’s been seeing bugs across cloudflare, GitHub UI (we’ve been seeing the pink unicorn a lot), VS Code randomly breaking. As more teams adopt AI, is this this the norm? Surely this can’t be sustainable long term.
Favoritism is a serious issue in some companies. People only listen to what they want to hear and are unwilling to accept different ideas or suggestions during discussions. When someone expresses an opposing opinion, they may end up being excluded or sidelined indirectly.
I think the distinction here is that AI cannot do these things YET. We all know of AI's current limitations, I think we are apprehensive about the potential of AI in the next few decades. And given the behaviors of employers (reducing teams and implementing AI as much as they can), I don't think anyone is overthinking so much as responding to the reality of the situation before us.
Well said, I agree with you
He is spot on. I now have 6 months in the backlog instead of 24 months. I can revisit those authentication refactors, App migrations, additional form fields, validation rules, end to end tests, that i had no time to get to
AI is still a reason people are getting let go
