The process was pretty standard: Recruiter (30), hiring manager (45), cross-functional panel (split into two 45-min calls). Everyone asked really good questions, the process moved pretty quickly, and the recruiter provided prep information before each call. That being said, there were three things that really bugged me:
1.) There seemed to be difficulties with every single interview: Interviewer was 5+ minutes late (then had camera off the entire time while mine was on), wrong zoom links were sent and I had to scramble to figure out how to get the right one, internet issues from both panel members (had to repeat questions/ answers multiple times), and my least favourite, interviewer had something going on in the background and repeatedly turned their camera on/off (SO distracting).
2.) 1Password uses BrightHire to record interviews- they say it’s so the interviewer can fully focus on the conversation, but so many of the interviewers decided to take notes instead. They informed me at the beginning that they were taking notes - not sending messages - so it felt like I was being recorded for no reason (and I still heard Slack notifications in the background). They also say that BrightHire is used so that all interviewers can coordinate so they don’t repeat questions, that didn't happen in my experience.
3.) After getting the rejection email, the recruiter offered a quick call to go over feedback. I asked for a quick written summary instead, but he informed me that it's company policy to provide feedback on call. After spending nearly three hours IN interviews and many more preparing for this process, the last thing I was to do is get on another call with the company that already rejected me. I kindly rejected the feedback call.
I hope others have a better experience than I did!
