I had a rather strange experience during the interview process with 1Password. I was contacted by a recruiter on a Sunday to schedule an interview with HR, which already felt a bit unconventional. During the actual interview, the recruiter did not turn on their camera, which came across as unprofessional and made the conversation feel impersonal and disengaged.
The overall tone of the interaction lacked enthusiasm and clarity, and I left the call with more questions than answers. Additionally, when applying, there was an option to opt out of AI screening and video recording. I can’t help but wonder if opting out played a role in being contacted — possibly to fulfill a checkbox rather than genuine interest.
In the end, the process didn’t leave a strong or positive impression. It felt more like a formality than a real opportunity. While I appreciate the contact, it ultimately wasn’t the right fit.
