Unprofessional Communication and Follow-Up
Overall: 2/5 Stars (Difficult Experience)
Process: Initial screening for BDM Sales role.
Pros
• Enthusiasm and Fit:
When the interview finally occurred, the recruiter was engaged, friendly, and provided great details about the role and company. She was enthusiastic about my background and explicitly stated I was a strong fit for multiple positions.
• Detailed Conversation:
The rescheduled call was extensive (approx. 60 minutes) and highly productive in discussing my experience and career goals.
Cons
• Poor Punctuality (First Attempt):
The recruiter was 10 minutes late to the first scheduled meeting with no prior notice, only responding after multiple check-in attempts from my side.
• Complete No-Show (Second Attempt):
The recruiter missed the second, rescheduled call entirely without any communication, causing me to wait until the meeting timed out. This showed a significant disregard for my scheduled time.
• Lack of Accountability & Follow-Up:
Despite confirming my fit and promising next steps (interviews with sales management and another recruiter) by "Monday at the latest," two weeks passed with complete silence. My subsequent follow-up emails and messages have gone unanswered.
Advice to Management
• Implement stricter protocols regarding candidate communication and scheduling. Candidates dedicate time and effort to prepare for and attend interviews; that time must be respected.
• Ensure that recruiters uphold promised deadlines for follow-up, especially after conveying strong interest in a candidate. The ghosting after an enthusiastic interview severely detracts from the company's reputation and professionalism.
In summary:
While the content of the interview was positive and encouraging, the execution of the process, marked by lateness, missed calls, and a complete failure to follow up, was extremely unprofessional and reflects poorly on the hiring experience.
