The first few stages of the process were pleasant. I had a phone interview with the hiring manager and then a video interview with a panel. I thought the interview went well. I then waited 5 long weeks to get any sort of response back from them. I emailed every week asking for feedback and I would be reassured by the recruiter that I would receive a response by the end of the day and each time I didn’t. They couldn’t even be bothered to say they were interviewing other candidates. Instead all I received was radio silence. Considering I had taken time out to interview with them, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for feedback. I received a message on a Friday afternoon (5 weeks later) saying they had gone with another candidate- no further feedback. I still don’t understand why this couldn’t be communicated to me earlier. I’m glad I didn’t progress for this role as it says a lot about them and I received an offer from a better company. I will never be interviewing for another role at AIG again, interviewing for a company is a 2 way street and respect needs to be given both ways. I don’t feel like AIG respect their candidates as they don’t even have the decency to provide feedback.
