They check references, hey actually call each one you put down. You need to have a drug test and a physical done. you go in to a big hire class (30-50) and you take a test. The test is about 100 questions, similar to the EMT test but heavy on anatomy and physiology. You come back for an in person "interview"-they ask you like 3 questions. Several people are sitting at desks and you go up to one of them- they're trying to get it done as fast as possible. You go over stretcher use, the different types of ambulances they have, and the different job responsibilities you have. You meet some people from upper management that you'll never see again. You go over union business and get your union stuff in order. Once you do all that, they make sure you're clock number works and you have to pass EVOC-they set it up in the parking lot and you only have to back through some cones and park the ambulance.
