I was contacted by YER recruting agency for a job offer as a Software Design Engineer.
After discussing things over with the recruiter, a phone interview was arranged with an engineer from the company, with mostly reviewing my experience and skills.
This turned out to go well, so I was offered a close-up meeting.
One day before the interview, it was announced to me that there would be first an one-year contract with the recruting agency, and then if things did go well a transfer to ASML would be arranged. Which is a very important thing if a relocation is required. They were however very helpful in assisting me in several things during the interview process.
There was a 3 hour long interview that included mostly group leader meetings and some technical discussions. The atmosphere appeared friendly, however from my perspective it looked like the internal management structure is really complex and rigid which has a really bad effect on the day-day work for the engineers. I was repetitively asked to provide reasons for wanting to work for the company without being offered any actual motives or insight on how the company actually works.
Many of the questions were centered on cliché questions (i.e. name three adjectives that would describe you, what would you say to the CEO of the company if you run into him in one sentence to get him to promote you).
There was no further communication and after my own inquiry it appears that there was no offer but no valid reason was stated. The recruiter claimed that he would ask about that and get back to me but so far no news.
