      Manager In Training (MIT) Interview

      Jul 12, 2011
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Abercrombie & Fitch in Mar 2011

      Interview

I was a current employee of A&F working as a model for about 3 years and I was about to receive my college degree so I decided to set up an interview with my DM for an MIT interview. She called me the next day to set up a time to interview me. When I arrived for the interview she expressed how happy she was that I decided to interview for the position and started the interview. She asked a lot of situational questions such as "tell me about a time that you had to deal with multiple tasks and how did you handle this?". She read the questions directly off a packet a papers and recorded my answers. After she finished asking me questions she explained the MIT program and how A&F only promotes from within and everyone who is full time starts as MITs. After hearing that I felt really positive because I had worked for the company for so long and I was serious about starting a career. The interview lasted about an hour and she said that I would hear from her within 2 weeks about any decisions. Exactly 2 weeks later I received a card in the mail saying something along the lines of "thanks for you interested in abercrombie but we're not able to extend an offer to you", no phone call, no email - a post card. The DM personally knew me and still she sent an impersonal postcard. If abercrombie likes to promote from with in, the why not hire a dedicated sales associate who has been with the company for 3 years? In the end, I realized I didn't want to work until 11pm every night and work 40+ hours with minimal pay.
