I received an email from a recruiter for Accruent saying that an employee had referred me to a position. There was no actual communication, it was just me clicking a link and selecting times that I would be available for a phone interview. A recruiter for the company confirmed the time and called on time. I had assumed they had a copy of my resume, but they did not. The interview was far from typical; it started out with them asking me about certain software aspects and my experience with them. There were never any personal questions/icebreakers asked. Things turned very sour after they asked if I had ever used Microsoft Excel. I have been using Excel pretty much every day since grade school, so I said I considered myself to be an expert. The interviewer's tone became extremely negative after that, and she asked me "what makes you think you're an expert in Excel?" I went into detail about how the software is used, but I could tell after that that she had no interest in continuing the interview, and quite frankly I didn't either. I got an email from her afterwards requesting my resume (perhaps she should have requested this before the interview), and then received a generic rejection a week later.
