      Marketing Associate Interview

      Jun 21, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Acquire

      Interview

This interview and company was a complete scam. The company is built on a set of complete lies that they will feed you from the moment you get the call to interview. I was told I would be interviewing for an “office based research job” and it turned out to be an AT&T sales associate. Do not accept their lies about how people can move up from sales associate to CEO in 6-8 months. It’s absolutely terrible what this company is doing by taking advantage of recent graduates with promises of 55-60k salaries within 5 weeks of being employed. My interviewer even admitted that wasn’t true after telling me that’s how the mode is set up. The pay is commission based, but they’ll tell you they give you a weekly salary that’s just a couple bucks above minimum wage if you don’t meet your sales expectation. They first call you in for an “interview” that took 5-10 minutes, then make you come back where they can explain their whole business model in a 2-3 hour sit down. Do not interview here if you are looking for anything other than a sales job, and I know of sales jobs that pay a lot better than this.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I was not asked many question during the interview. Mainly just to tell a little about yourself and then they talked the rest of the time.

Dear Sir/Ma’am, We appreciate your feedback into our company. We would like to address each concern point by point with due diligence. While Acquire is new to the Raleigh area, we have worked tirelessly to build a reputable, sustainable, and transparent organization. Throughout our company’s online presence one will find that Acquire’s business operations are that of promotional and experiential marketing campaigns. As a matter of practice, we do not wish to misrepresent ourselves in any way, particularly in regards to vetting candidates. Upon further inquiry, our administrative staff has found that we do not have a job posting for an “office-based research” role. It may be possible that you confused our job posting with that of another company. Acquire does work with several telecommunication companies, as well as SmartHome companies and clean energy companies. This is all stated in the “What We Do” section of our website. As to your next point, Acquire does possess an accelerated personnel development track. This is due in large part to the demand of our clients to expand into emerging markets. Acquire employs people from all walks of life, all education levels, and seasons of their career. We’re pleased you’ve provided us the opportunity to address your concerns in regards to our pay structure, as we’re sure this is a common misconception with many marketing & sales firms. It’s our goal to provide full transparency in clarifying the pay at Acquire. We have an uncapped and base pay backed compensation model. Acquire’s interviewing process is made to fit the needs and culture of our company. Our company culture is friendly and fast-paced. Therefore, the interview process should fall in line with the same ethos. Once again, we do appreciate your thorough feedback. Kindest Regards, The Acquire Team

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Acquire

      Interview

Two interviews and a call to tell me I got the job. Both interviews were promptly scheduled, which is great in the current job market. The first one was the first day after I applied and the second was the Monday after that. The call was that evening, which was a bit stressful because they said they’d call sometime after 4 and that if I didn’t answer the phone the job would go to someone else. It ended up being around 7, which made me worry I hadn’t gotten the job for a while.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The usual stuff, asking about team oriented vs. solo, hobbies outside of work, and stuff on my resume mostly. They do sales as well as marketing, so make sure to talk about any relevant sales experience you have.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Acquire (Raleigh, NC)

      Interview

The process was pretty quick and easy, and the interviewers were very friendly and professional. During the first interview (15 minutes) I was asked a couple of easy questions to introduce myself. A day later I had a second interview (1 hour), during which we had coffee and discussed my background/motivation, and details on the position, company, and training. I was however disappointed to find out that, despite the position being labeled as Marketing Associate with a description matching that title, the job is essentially a Sales position and not at all what a Marketing Associate would typically do.

Dear Reviewer, We would like to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are happy to hear you had a pleasant experience during your interview process. We do apologize if the Marketing Associate position caused confusion. As you know, marketing can include many forms and we explain in the interview process what we specialize in. However, all of our positions are entry-level and include that there will be cross-training in sales. Best of luck with your job search! Acquire Human Resources Department
