      Customer Experience Specialist Interview

      May 27, 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Portland, OR
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Airbnb (Portland, OR) in May 2014

      Interview

I applied online by first sending in my resume. A few days later was sent a link to HireArt to complete a 7 question interview that had video portions. It was easy enough but took me forever because I kept re-recording. Waited over a month and finally got an invite to the group interview aka hire meetup. There were about 25 or so other candidates and about 8-10 current Airbnb employees. The process took a few hours, was less scary than I'd worked myself for, and involved some role-playing, survival team-building scenarios, and short one-on-one interviews. The next day I was asked to do a Skype interview with someone in Dublin. Still waiting to hear back but I think it went very well and felt natural. Basically, Airbnb staff members are really chill, respectful, and easy to talk to. Research company culture and policies. A billion bonus points if you've used the site as a guest or host and like to travel.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

It wasn't "difficult" per se, but they asked me if I could have any job in the world tomorrow what it would be. Unexpected and potentially tricky!

      Customer Experience Specialist Interview

      May 7, 2026
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Airbnb

      Interview

I applied online, and it took about two weeks to get my first interview. The entire interview process felt casual, friendly, and honestly quite enjoyable overall. 1. Screening Interview with HR They asked about my previous experience and why I was interested in a customer experience role. There was also a Q&A session about the position itself, along with a role-play exercise based on a real customer support scenario. 2. Interview with the Hiring Manager After passing the first stage, I completed an online assessment. The hiring manager interview focused more on practical customer support situations and role-play exercises involving real-case scenarios. 3. Final Interview The final round mainly focused on core values, culture fit, and my passion for the role.

      Positive experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Airbnb (Singapore) in Jan 2019

      Interview

It was a pretty straightforward and fun experience. 1. Video interview (recording) 2. Photo interview 3. Hiring meetup (similar to an assessment centre) 4. Core value interview I did not pass the Hiring Meetup, probably because I was too honest about my intention that I might not stay in the customer experience team for very long period (3-5 years).

      Question 1

Role plays as a real customer experience specialist, answering potential enquiries from both hosts and guests.
