It was obvious the recruiter had virtually no technical knowledge related to commissioning, just reading off a script. I repeated myself multiple times for several of the same questions asked over and over. And asked several questions only to receive “I don’t know, I’ll have to check the JD or ask someone.” I have over a decade of pharmaceutical validation, qualification and commissioning experience and most recently was a manager overseeing 3 sterile injectable manufacturing sites (all start-up, commissioning, validation, FDA compliance).
This commissioning job was about a 3rd of what my last job entailed...would have been nothing for me to jump in to this job. AWS contacted me directly for the commissioning manger position and/or the commissioning engineer position given my extensive pharma CQV background. I was rejected for the manager job immediately and then was invited directly by AWS to apply for the commissioning engineer position. The interview process (a phone call) did not allow one to showcase their skills, so the hiring manager was likely not presented with a very adequate picture of my candidacy. I’m so tired of recruiters lacking any or all technical experience determining if I’m qualified for a position they know absolutely nothing about, they’re just reading pre-printed questions and the JD. I was asked directly to apply and not even spoken to by the hiring manager or anyone else besides the recruiter/talent acquisition specialist for either position, lol!!!! Asking one to apply and not even allowing them to speak with a person who matters (like an engineer or hiring manager) is like being invited to a party and then asked, "why are you here?" Their interview process does nothing to allow a person to showcase their skills which is the whole point to reach the best candidate. I’ve done commissioning (CQV) for over a decade (clean steam, clean air, clean water systems, VHP systems, autoclaves, filling machines, HVAC/Chiller/Water systems commissioning, BMS-building management systems (Siemens, Johnson controls etc) commissioning. According to AWS someone doing all of this, let alone managing 3 FDA regulated manufacturing sites for complete CQV is not worth further vetting for a job that would require about a 3rd of this skillset. It’s Insulting and laughable!!!
