      Staff Assistant Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Saint Louis, MO
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at American Airlines (Saint Louis, MO) in Jun 2015

      Interview

I filled out an application online and 2 weeks later got an call to schedule a face to face interview. I was interviewed by 2 staff assistant managers whom have been with the company for years. They had amazing personalities and they were laid back. They first explained the benefits and starting pay, then went into the straight forward easy interview questions. I left the interview with confidence but not yet have heard if I got the job or not. Overall it still was an amazing experience.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at American Airlines (Phoenix, AZ) in Apr 2023

      Interview

I had interviews for two different Staff Assistant I postings, they were for different departments. One of the interviews was in person. I arrived 10 minutes early and checked in, but the receptionist never told them I was there. An hour later the security guard saw me still waiting and checked with the people doing the interviews. They thought I got there late, but the security guard was nice and let them know I had actually been early. The interview was weird, they seemed bothered by it. When it was my turn to ask questions they acted like they had somewhere to be. When I asked when they needed to wrap it up they said, "We have all day." It was very odd. The other interview was a video call. They were nicer. The questions were more what you'd expect. Things like: Tell us about a time when you had a conflict with a co-worker, how did you resolve it? How do you handle prioritizing tasks? Where do you see yourself in 5years? It went well, but from what they were saying I got the impression they wanted someone who will cover hours when the rest of the team needs to take time off for family stuff. Another weird thing was during both interviews they asked if I was currently working. My resume and online application showed an end date at my most recent job. I'm not sure if they don't look at that information or if they just weren't paying attention.

      Staff Assistant Interview

      Dec 17, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Las Vegas, NV
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at American Airlines (Las Vegas, NV) in Nov 2022

      Interview

I was scheduled for a virtual interview and basically stood up, no one showed up. I was rescheduled and never given a reason nor apology for what happened. Days later I received a rejection email, then a couple days after that someone called asking for a second interview. This was the most unprofessional and disorganized interview process I've ever had and decided to end it there. This is very unappealing to potential employees.

      Anonymous employee

      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Sep 2022

      Interview

It was a great experience. I have never been interviewed by 4 people before and it was just people in management it was just people that worked their in regular jobs. I was there in the interview for about 30 minutes which is a good length of time to see if you are compatible with their needs in an employee.
