      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Jul 2023

      Interview

This was the longest interview process I have ever been in. I applied online & immediately took a personality test. Then 3 days later, they reached out to schedule a virtual interview (questions below). That was a month later. They will have you log onto a call with 25-30 other candidates & you get one question. 10 business days after the virtual interview, I was invited to a face-to-face. That was scheduled for two months later. They provided the flights & got to the interview building the next day. They will have you check in & then go into the interview room. The first thing is a written test that shows you know English. They'll have you with 8-10 other candidates to do a group interview (really chill, think get to know you game). After that are two rounds of single-question group interviews. They'll break & then go into a presentation for your benefits. After that they'll make their first cut of people & say it's for their shuttle (they're lying). Whoever stays will go do a sit, reach, and stand test (just to see if you can sit in a jumpseat & reach in the overhead bins). You'll have some Q&A time while you get called for one-on-ones. Those questions are also just customer service & STAR based. Honestly no questions were hard. Got my ride back to the airport & got a rejection a few days later. JUST NOTE: they will always say they'll contact you in 5-7 business days & they will NEVER reject you in person (cowardly honestly).

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

These were the real questions in my virtual interview, I wrote them down. 1. Explain your ideal working environment 2. A specific process or procedure at work you sought to improve 3. A specific example of when you went out of your way to assist a customer 4. A time when you had to adapt your approach to have your desired outcome 5. An example of when you had to enlist the support of others to complete a task. 6. What are the types of rules and regulations you had to adhere to in your former roles? 7. A time that you saw a colleague wonderful for a customer, what impressed you the most? 8. Describe a time when you had a project that you initiated on your own 9. How do you overcome moments when you lack motivation? 10. Describe a time when there was a disagreement in a group. How did you help solve it? 11. Give me an example of when you had an interaction with a guest at a stressful or hectic time at work? 12. Tell me a time when you went above and beyond. 13. Tell us about a time when you took responsibility at work for a mistake that wasn’t yours. 14. How do you handle someone who’s working style or experience is different from yours? 15. Tell us about a time when you got a project done in an unusual situation? 16. What was your proudest moment at work? 17. What qualities does someone need to possess to be a successful flight attendant? 18. What is your best customer service skill? 19. A specific example of when you finished a task with little to no direction? 20. How do you use technology to solve problems at work? 21. From a professional setting, who do you look up to or admire? 22. An example of when you were able to improve upon a specific procedure via collaboration? 23. We can agree that you love to travel, people, and American is the best; but what is something else that you can bring to the FA position?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at American Airlines (Tuscaloosa, AL) in Apr 2018

      Interview

I took my Video Interview (VI) on April 19th. The process was not hard. Although I did run into a minor problem- the link for the vi was not compatible with my Google Chrome browser. I'm not sure if it had something to do with my internet connection. Thankfully, I was using my Mac computer and had to option to switch over to Safari- which ran smoothly. You are able to test out your microphone as well as your camera and playback a short video that you can record to check the volume. I highly suggest taking advantage of this opportunity because when I was using chrome, I was not able to hear myself. If i did not test it, I probably would have been voiceless throughout the entire interview. I would also assume that at all times once you start, the hiring agents can see you. SO when you record your "practice video" be professional. As well as during any breaks/ think time you are given. You will then have a robot read out each question, twice. If you are a fast reader OR you have taken advantage of this site (glassdoor) you should be very familiar with the questions. You can use this time to think about your answer. (the robot reads fairly slow). You then have 1 minute of think time. You should have a pen and pad with you so you can make short bullet points of your thoughts. Remember the S.T.A.R. method. Also try to refrain from looking down while you are speaking. After the 1 minute, you will then have 3 minutes to answer the question. Take your time but be aware that three minutes is shorter than you think. Remember to smile and do not look at yourself in the screen. Look at the camera. I know this is weird, but treat it as if you are looking in the eye of the Interviewer. If you finish before, you are able to press stop and move on to the next question. There are six in total. The last question is normally "Can you adhere to the no visible tattoo policy?" Treat this as an open-ended question instead of a yes or no. In the end, I believe it went well! Remember to be yourself and let your personality show! Dress FULLY in business professional attire. Girls, hair pulled back, no fly aways, minimal/ nude makeup. One earring per ear, no facial piercings. Simple necklace, one bracelet, a watch, no more than two rings. Simple/ nude nail polish. A blazer, nice top and dress pants or a pencil skirt (they wont see the bottoms, its just to help you feel professional). Good luck to everyone! I am looking forward to hearing back from AA!!!

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at American Airlines in Jun 2017

      Interview

I applied sometime late May. On June 22nd I did the video interview. It was easy to set up. You'll have to download an app. The attachment comes in the email. They'll give you a few test tries to make sure the sound is working and your light is right. I wore a button up shirt, pearls, hair tied back and subtle make up. I was asked 5 questions. 1) why do you want to work for AA? 2) Can you abide by the no tattoos or extreme piercing rule? 3) what do you look forward to about relocating? 4) recall a time you received (yes, received) excellent customer service. 5).... And I cant remember the last question off the top of my head. They circulate between the same 15 questions I saw throughout glass door. You have one minute to prep for the question and 3 minutes to answer. There's a next button if you finish answering before the 3 minutes is up. The whole thing took all of 10-15 minutes to finish.
