First a phone interview with a corporate HR person, and then I received an email from an administrative assistant asking to set up a phone interview with the Director of Advancement. The day came for the call, I made arrangements to leave work early to take the call, and the time for the call came and went. No call, no email about rescheduling, apologizing, nothing. Later that evening, I sent an email to the Admin asking if it was going to be rescheduled, and received a reply the next day asking if I could do it that day. Again, left work early to be able to take the call. The person who called and interviewed me was SO CONDESCENDING. I have extensive volunteer leadership experience, and she kept repeating how different a "large nonprofit that is run like a corporation" is from what I am used to. Okay, maybe, but I also have a degree in Organization Administration and I wouldn't have applied if I didn't think I could handle it. When it came time for me to ask any questions I had, I said that while I am familiar with their 4 events per year, I admittedly do not know where they fall on the calendar, and could she explain a bit more what activities the job entails that make it a full time job. Her response: "WOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Okay then!!!!" Then she rattled off a list of things like "entering auction items", etc., asked if I had any more questions, and when I said, "No, I think that is it", she basically cut me off, said, "Okay, well thanks", and hung up on me.
