I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Anaplan
Interview
The interview process was straightforward - HR, hiring manager, panel presentation interview, and final interview. Mike was very responsive and kept me updated at each stage of the process. He was always willing to meet and answer any questions I had which I really appreciated. The team provided a detailed description of what needed to be created for the panel presentation and got me scheduled very quickly. Mike also got back to me right away with feedback after the initial interviews. It was a pleasure to work with him. I really enjoyed my interview with the hiring manager, John. He asked very insightful questions and I felt like we had a great conversation. I also worked with Tracy in HR, who was very supportive and warm both over the phone, text and email. She also gave me feedback right away and was also a pleasure to work with.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me about my experience with AI given the role I was applying to, looking for both technical acumen and experience.
The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Anaplan (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2019
Interview
I applied online and a recruiter reached out with a set of questions into my experience, since there was a significant time commitment in doing them, I asked about the interview process. She replied right away and also scheduled a call for us to chat.
I found her to be one of the most professional and communicative recruiters I have ever encountered. There was communication and follow up in every step of the process, including feedback at the end, which frankly every company should do but never does.
After our call, she scheduled me to have a video call with the hiring manager, which is great from a process perspective, that she is empowered to make this decision and move things forward.
After that call, it went to an onsite with a small presentation project. I talked to a total of 4 people, 2 of them were video calls since they weren't in the SF office. I think this is an area to improve. Video calls can be hard, especially when using a tool (WebEx) that didn't have good video or voice quality. Zoom is the only one that I would use here.
I would have liked to meet more people on-site to get a better insight into the culture and company. While I appreciate the fast process, this might have been too fast.

Interview
I applied online and the next day I heard back from the recruiter. I had a call with the recruiter and the hiring manager. The recruiter was extremely thorough. Sometimes she was a bit invasive with texting granted she did inquire prior to that for permission. Overall she was looking to make sure the candidate experience was positive. The hiring manager asked so many questions in the 30 minute video interview that I almost wondered how much he really knew about marketing. Some of the questions seemed to be quite rudimentary.
