I typically do not feel inclined to complain about a company’s interview and selection process, especially online, but my experience with Anduril was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful compared to any other interview process I’ve been through. From the first interview (which went well), the interviewer asked where I am with my job search, and I mentioned that I was at the final stages of my job search and that I was going to be around the LA area soon for an onsite interview. I will give credit where credit is due because Anduril was very accommodating and flexible with scheduling an onsite interview with me while I was in town. Couple days after the onsite interview with Anduril, I was given a verbal offer which I was super excited about. We met almost daily after I received the verbal offer to talk through details about the offer. I was trying to be as honest as I can be and mentioned that I want to see the outcome of the other onsite interview too as I was at the final stages with them as well (as they know from the first day we talked). I also have not received a written offer from Anduril at this point, so I mentioned that I want to see the offer package before giving my final answer. I was definitely very interested in this company, but I honestly cannot commit to something if it is not on paper which I felt like in our conversations, Anduril was trying to get me to commit without a written offer and without seeing the full package. Couple days later, I receive a phone call saying that my offer got rescinded because the “leadership changed their minds” and “they want someone with more start up experience”. To be honest, the people I have talked to at Anduril during the interviews came from more traditional backgrounds rather than a start-up background, so it is hard for me to believe that this is the truth. Even if this is the truth, I feel like the company should have considered this prior to giving me a verbal offer in the first place.
All that being said, Anduril handled this very unprofessionally. I came in with honesty as I believe that ‘honesty is the best policy’, but I was met with disrespect, distrust, and dishonesty.
