I applied online and received an email the following day asking for available times for a phone interview. Apparently they reviewed my resume and were interested. I first thought this was a little different since most companies call the person but oh well I responded with my available times. Three days later, I received an APOLOGY for their delay and that they received an unexpected amount of applicants. (Understandable). In the same email it then asks me to please answer 4 questions for them to get a better understanding of my background. These questions were simple. For example: "what particular software you use and yrs of experience". The last question (4) asked: "What is your expected salary. Please be specific". Basically there is no way to get an understanding of someone background with 4 questions! Take the time to call the person and talk to them.
After replying, I didn't receive a response at all. I followed up a WEEK later just to see where I am with the hire process. Didn't get a response!
Usually when someone reviews your resume and is interested they set up a PHONE INTERVIEW or IN PERSON INTERVIEW. ANSYS didn't do that! They were interested and decided to ignore emails and didn't take the time to CALL a potential candidate.
Luckily this ended in a positive note! I got offered a job at a company VERY CLOSE to ANSYS, same area! Anyways I searched for the person's manager and contacted with that person. The very next day I get a response from the "Talent Acquisition Specialist" saying "Upon reviewing your resume it was determined that your background is not a fit for our current needs. " Totally opposite from the first email I received from this very person!
My advice: Be transparent! Call the candidate and set up an interview. When you do everything through email it makes you seem NON HUMAN! It also makes candidates think that ANSYS treats their employees as ROBOTS!
