After applying and waiting for approximately 2 months, the hiring manager scheduled a 30 min interview. Without much of an introduction, they quickly jumped into situational questions. Other than one of the questions, most of them had nothing to do with the job I was applying for or my past experience and were initially posed wthout context. I was a bit rusty (first interview in 5+ years), so did not do as good as I wanted to but I was also surprised by the interviewer's skills. Did not challenge me on any of my responses, no further probing questions, etc. The interview was transcribed, but this was not stated in the scheduling communications. When the time came to ask my questions, responses were cryptic and vague as if they did not want to disclose any confidential information. If that is the case, why did you not ask applicants to sign an NDA. Eventually the job did not appear to get filled so it seems the hiring team is not certain about the immediate need for this position. It would've been nice to be upfront about this. There is nothing wrong with having an introductory call and be transparent with applicants. All in all, poor experience.
