My Verbal Offer was Rescinded!
5 - 6 interviews, all went very well including an interview with the new VP of Sales. I received
great feedback after the technical demonstration and presentation which was conducted over a Go To meeting. I've been a Sales Engineer for the last 13 years and was very excited when I received a verbal offer. I then waited..........and found out the CEO was questioning my programming skills, what languages i know, what my last development project was. This CEO decided to rescind my offer and his followers were powerless to come together and convince him i was the perfect candidate with the right balance of technical skills, sales and soft skills that would help bring in revenue. I guess the CEO ultimately decided at the 11th hour that he wanted a programmer in the role without any regard for what I was going through. I only found out later on it was the CEO who passed judgement since nobody would tell me who this person was that had doubts (I'm sure they were running scared). Even my gracious emails to the followers were never replied to after stating how I understood the situation and I would be open to other opportunities. I wasted all this time, energy and effort and being unemployed, it was a real blow.
As expected, it's been over 7 months and it appears they still haven't hired for this role. I can only imagine why. Unethical, immoral and most likely a culture that's not pleasant. You decide for yourself if you want to risk it.
