They did not specify how many questions I needed to complete. (I asked, and was told it depends on me.) I was told to use vim for coding. Based on my past experience, most virtual assessments usually require solving 2–3 questions. With this in mind, I managed my time accordingly.
I completed 3 questions within the final assessment and still had about 10 minutes left. However, the interviewer commented that I was too slow and said I was going to fail. I suggested that, since time remained, he could give me another question to try, but he replied that it was meaningless and that I was not suitable for Arista’s work environment.
During the interview, the interviewer was frequently distracted, working on something else and checking his phone, which came across as unprofessional.
