I applied online. I interviewed at Arup in Dec 2017
Interview
Long selection process with little clarity about stages and duration. After the submission of the online application form I have been invited to a phone interview after two weeks. The interviewer told me they would get back to me after a week, it turned out to be about two months later. I received an email saying I had passed the phone interview and I might/might not be invited to the assessment centre. After 5 days I received an email that gave me 6 days notice to attend the assessment centre, with no other information provided about activities involved during the day and even location of the centre! On the assessment day the organization was not very effective, I was initially told there was no assessment that day and we might be asked to wait a few hours. A week after the assessment centre I received an email saying that I had not been successful at that last stage and that I could ask for feedback on my performance on the day. I immediately required feedback at the address provided and after 2 days I have been told feedback was not provided for those who do not reach the interview stage (that clearly was not the case...). I explained my situation again and asked for feedback two other times. I have never received a reply from Arup.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How did you overcome technical issues during research project? How did you overcome issues with teammate? Technical questions related to the analysis of a specific case
first round: group interview including a 10 mins presentation and a written test (essays on EIA) that last for 30-45 mins approximately
second round: interview by managers fir around 30 mins
I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Arup (London, England)
Interview
Met with different people from the team over the course of a few hours. Asked typical questions about motivation, experience. Asked to present recommendations based on data given.
All seemed well. But then they took over a month to get back to me despite my following up and only did so via email. Would have preferred a call after all that waiting. A further month to get the feedback which they promise to give. Interview team are great, HR not so much. Left a sour taste that they treat people they don't want that badly. From what I've heard, people not selected for interview only got told they were unsuccessful months after the role had been given away.
Online Tests; The standard logic and math tests
Online assesment center, including long case study and presentation where I had 30 minutes to prepare a slide. Good experience overall, but would have prefered in-person
