      Customer Success Manager Interview

      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Asana (Sydney) in Nov 2019

      Interview

I was recruited by an external recruiter who could not have been more helpful in this process! I had an inspiring, engaging, informative video call with the hiring manager in the US who helped me understand the responsibilities of the role and the specific needs of their office/market. I had never heard someone speak with so much authentic positivity about their job and company. 30 minutes later the recruiter called and informed they’d like to bring me onsite. I met with the country manager and came prepared with lots of questions, which made up the bulk of the interview. He told me in person he’d be moving me on to the panel round. The rest happened very fast - I got an email one week later on Thursday morning asking if I’d be free to come in the following day for 3 back-to-back 45 minute interviews as well as prepare a 30 minute mock client presentation. I met with the existing CSM, 2 sales team members, and a pre-sales engineer, then presented to all of them, as well as the country manager, the hiring manager in the US (on video) and another CSM in the US. It was full on, and I remained positive and energetic despite feeling a little in over my head. Everyone was lovely and provided constructive criticism. I was asked to meet again with the hiring manager in the US the next day (Saturday morning) to debrief the presentation and answer more questions. I got a strong inkling to prepare a 30-60-90 day impact plan and I’m glad I did, because you bet it was asked. She asked me more questions about how I prioritize, what I’m good at, etc. I was scheduled to meet with Asana’s internal recruiter 3 days later to share my background and interest in the role with her; she was kind and friendly and told me they’d be meeting about me right after our call, and she’d come back to me for references. I was so sure I’d found my dream role and company with Asana and I was absolutely crushed to find out I was not chosen. The only feedback I got was the team was looking for a bit more signal in terms of your prioritization as well and more depth across your answers. Despite the outcome, this was the best company and group of people I came across while interviewing at nearly 10 different companies. I feel they are under fantastic leadership, hire fantastic people, and have a strong moral compass. 10/10 would recommend and interview again.

      Question 1

Tell me about a time you've taught people something. What is a common misconception about you? What are you better at than anyone you know? How do you make sense of conflicting priorities?

      Interview

The recruiter reached out to me for a screening call, said she would move me forward, then ghosted me. I would not recommend wasting your time with Asana, try elsewhere.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Asana (London, England) in Aug 2024

      Interview

After two rounds of initial interview questions, the team at Asana went completely quiet. When I sent a polite request for an update, there was no response. This is unacceptable for a company of such standards.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Asana (London, England) in Aug 2024

      Interview

Straight forward interview process starting with a telephone screening led by one of their HR team members and then onto an interview with the hiring manager. Then you can expect a panel interview with some of the team members. I did feel like there wasn't much that was a surprise but felt there was little enthusiasm in the 1st round interview after having a great call with HR. Overall, I think Asana is a solid company and I like the product but the interview process was a bit underwhelming. I didn't feel like I was told what the primary concern was for the hiring manager, which ultimately led to me preparing to discuss points that weren't as important to the hiring manager as I was led to believe. Otherwise, HR was stellar and made sure to get back to me quickly.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Asked typically CSM questions, including the size of the book of business I managed and how I approached senior-level relationship building.
