      Solutions Engineer Interview

      Oct 7, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Asana

      Interview

I was contacted via LinkedIn and asked to first do a quick discovery call with the talent associate. After this call, I had an introductory call with the manager of the team that was hiring. From there, there was a mock discovery call as if I were meeting with a customer, a 4 person rotating interview, and a mock presentation. I made it to the 4 person interview and then was dropped from the interview process.

      Question 1

How do you continue to stay updated on competitors? How would you prioritize leads given to you by multiple AE’s?

      I interviewed at Asana

      Interview

I want to make it clear this review isn’t about the recruiter. All of my interactions with her were transparent and professional. The hiring manager interview was a different story. After an initial screening with the recruiter I met for 30 minutes with the hiring manager. He started by asking about my current company and if I knew a few people he knew there (totally fine). I didn’t. We moved on and he admitted to being distracted and “just finishing something up.” This led to him missing parts of my responses to questions and then further questioning me on the answers he was either not hearing or thought he heard. The entire 30 minutes just seemed like one big inconvenience and miscommunication. But that wasn’t the worst part. After the interview I was on LinkedIn and had a profile view from ONE OF THE PEOPLE AT MY CURRENT COMPANY HE HAD ASKED IF I KNEW. So clearly that’s what the distraction was: he was messaging the people he knew at my current company. The most unprofessional experience I’ve ever had. A week and a half later I got a generic rejection email. It’s too bad there’s no language in that NDA they have you sign that goes both ways.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Asana (Austin, TX) in May 2022

      Interview

What stood out for me with Asana is that the interviewers were friendly and good to talk to. Too often people approach interviewing with disinterest or as a chore; not so with Asana. You'll find that Asana hired and trained people who are interested, engaging, and genuinely positive. I also had a good time doing the product demonstration, it was a fun and interesting process to get to know the product, the questions I got were realistic, and the preparation was realistic as well.

      Question 1

One that stood out was "What is your superpower?"
