      Graduate Site Reliability Engineer Interview

      Apr 29, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Sydney
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (Sydney) in Jan 2022

      Interview

I applied for the graduate software engineer position a few days after the applications were open. Got a online assessment a few days later and completed all the questions. Got a response back 2 months later for a phone interview with a position that I didn't originally apply for. In the phone interview, I told them that I applied for the software engineer position and wanted to prioritise it but was told that the position had no more spots available. I said that I was still fine with interviewing for the SRE position. I had to complete a system design interview, a code design interview and a management interview afterwards. I received feedback and performed well in all of my interviews. In the end, I was told that there was only 1 position left for the SRE role and was rejected in favour of another candidate who stated that they were interested in pursuing a career in SRE and the point that I was more interested in SWE than SRE was the reason that I was rejected. They used a honest question that I asked against me in deciding the candidate, such a scummy move. I was set for failure from the beginning since there was no way I could have gotten an offer despite doing well in every interview. Atlassian "hires" on a rolling basis but I was ghosted despite applying and completing the online assessment immediately after applications were open. Next time please don't interview people and waste their time when you already know that your positions are all filled up. The good thing about the interview process was the recruiter was nice and communicative. The interviewers were also nice and fun to work with.

      Jun 8, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Melbourne
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (Melbourne) in May 2016

      Interview

R1 - HR Coding Test R2 - Phone Interview R3 - Virtual Skype Interview. (Pair programming, whiteboard, technical knowledge) Running an IDE with Skype concurrently was a nightmare and impeded the entire coding process. Whiteboard interview was interactive and fun, had the opportunity to discuss design principles and architecture. Technical knowledge interview was trivial, basically if you had any real programming experience, you'd be able to answer them.

      Anonymous employee
      Sydney
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Atlassian (Sydney) in Apr 2016

      Interview

There are 3 stages in the recruitment process: 1. Online coding test in Python 2. Phone interview 3. On-site interviews (whiteboarding, pair coding, technical interview) The interviewers were very friendly, but it took more than a month to receive the outcome of the final interviews. For coding interview, you can choose your IDE in advance and your language. doesnt have to be python.
