I interviewed with Autochlor for an HR position. The entire process took about 3 weeks. After two phone interviews I was sent to a physical location in Gwinnett to interview in person (although the job post in indeed read: Atlanta). I took a technical skills test which I was told is administered to all, regardless of what position you apply for. It consisted of mainly science, your typical Bill Nye The Science Guy material, it will have you think back to grade school with questions about gravity, pulleys etc etc. I interviewed with a manger that was onsite. He informed me that he was conducting the interview rather than the HR Regional. As soon as I sat down this manager was visibly, and extremely uncomfortable. He mentioned my attire ( I wore a suit and a tie, no flashy colors typically suit and tie) indirectly and made several references to it the entire time. He first said, you know this is a blue collar job right? I thought to myself yes... but in America a suit and tie are business professional attire appropriate for an interview, typically worn out of respect. Then he stated: you know your not working on the top floor in some glass building right? The moral of this story, wear shorts or camo to the interview if you interview with this manager to make him feel more comfortable. Also a note to the Manager if someone is overqualified just say so please don’t waste their time. Secondly if a suit makes you uncomfortable get your clothing game up, I recommend a subscription to GQ or Men's Health to start with. Note to the head of the company, no longer let this particular manager conduct your interviews. It makes your company seem horrible, antiquated and less than professional.
